Learning Languages through Music

As a Swiss international school, our main language of instruction throughout the school is English, but the French language is an integral element of the overall curriculum. Our young learners benefit from our immersion model to learn French, which ensures that there is a native French-speaking Learning Assistant in each class, allowing children to hear and speak French throughout the day as they learn to differentiate each language. From Grade 1 children move to formal French classes, and the French language is also incorporated into other subjects and activities. 

Students at SISQ will be exposed to French in a variety of settings throughout the day, which will reinforce their skills. A great example is learning French through our music lessons. Watch the video below and notice how our music teacher is speaking both English and French to the children. Studies have shown that music is an excellent way to learn languages.
