This past week our Grade 5 students had an opportunity to be leaders and educators. The students designed and led the Grade 1-5 assembly with confidence and aplomb. They shared learning experiences using a range of effective communication strategies and presentation skills. They held a captive audience throughout and left us all reflecting on the very powerful message “none of us are smarter than all of us!”. It is quite amazing to witness, that after just a few weeks, our students have internalised the IB philosophy of thinking and learning and are able model the skills needed for effective teamwork for their peers.
Some of our girls’ football teams had the opportunity to be ambassadors for our school and visit the prestigious sporting venue, The Aspire Dome”. They demonstrated “grit” and resilience as they played their best against some challenging opponents.
These are just two examples of the balanced learning journey we desire to create for our PYP students in and beyond the classroom. Our belief is that by providing challenges, within a nurturing environment where children have the courage to be risk-takers, we are shaping strategically thinking minds and genuine caring attitudes that will enable our students to positively impact the wider world they will be part of as adults.
