By Ms. Susan Anderson (Head of Primary School)
Children who join our Primary School will follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). This is the starting point of a child's educational journey, and our aim is that their initial experience is enjoyable and motivating in every aspect. Here at SISQ we are passionate about our work as educators and committed to ensuring each of our children can thrive and reach their full potential. Academic excellence and personal growth are promoted within a caring, welcoming international community; grounded by our school values. We have three principles that guide all that we seek to do for our young learners:
1. Each child is unique
It is our belief that each child is a special and unique whole person with individual learning styles and personal strengths. Their identity and culture are valued and we aim to instill in each one a sense of self-worth. Each child is entitled to and provided with guidance, opportunities and experiences that lead them to academic, social, emotional and physical growth.
2. The work we do is child-centered
The well-being of our children is the main focus of all that we do during the school day, and from the earliest phase the PYP encourages children to interact with the world around them, to wonder and question, to cultivate caring and positive relationships and to be responsible.
3. A love for learning
The dynamic world we live in requires that successful individuals be able to continually adapt to change and new discoveries. We recognize the need to foster a love for learning in our children so they remain enthusiastic and motivated to continue their learning beyond the classroom. Our programmes are designed to inspire and generate creativity. Our children are taught skills that enable them to access and extract the information they need from the vast sources available to them. They are introduced to a solid foundation of knowledge and conceptual understandings are nurtured. Learning is fun!
