Following the Primary Years Parent Information Evening, please find below the questions you've asked and Ms. Anderson's answers:
The school does not dictate the type of lunches that are brought from home as this is a personal choice. There are also different opinions as to what is "fast food".
As a parent there are many strategies that you can try, here are some of them; limit the options to healthy food, role model healthy eating choices, eat together as a family, explain the benefits of eating a balanced diet, experiment with different types of food to determine what your child does like, include your child in the preparation of food as this can be fun and eating the finished meal can be very rewarding.
ECA's should be a student choice, primarily. Please remember ECA's are a compliment to the curriculum and children need to be focussed after a full day of school. If they are tired or not motivated by the choice it can be detrimental to a positive school experience.
Currently students sign up for the termly sessions and can then change activity. It does take some time for students to "get into" the activity and part of the learning is resilience and commitment.
