There was an air of excitement at the Swiss International School in Qatar (SISQ) on Sunday 10 September 2017, as Philip Bradley, Head of School, and his team of over 60 leadership, teaching and administrative staff members, were waiting to welcome over 300 children of almost 50 different nationalities for their first day of school. It was a symbolic day for the entire SISQ team, as the results of all their hard work and dedication in ensuring the successful full launch of the school, could be seen in every corner of the school buildings. The obvious reward being lots of happy and smiling children, many whom had been unable to sleep the night before in anticipation of their new life at SISQ.
Mr Bradley remarked that “Today was the culmination of a monumental team effort that was envisioned almost three years ago. The pace certainly picked up in the last few weeks and hundreds of “moving-parts” have come together with a passion and vision that you will rarely experience - the reward for all was the energy, joy and excitement radiating from our students”.
SISQ officially opened its doors earlier in the year, on 4 January 2017, for 30 children aged 3 to 5 years on the Early Years Programme. We were delighted to welcome all the January starters back again for a new school year, and now allowing them to participate in a full school community with 300 other children. As a truly international school, SISQ will ensure to promote multilingualism and cultural awareness amongst all our students aged from 3 to 13 years. Through offering the highly recognized IB Programme, we will provide a high quality education, combined with a wide range of extra-curricular activities to ensure learning and development beyond the classroom - many with the French language at its heart.
Looking at the year ahead Mr Bradley said; “We have been ambitious and idealistic from our first moments and I have no doubt that the nurturing and caring environment we provide will enable our students to flourish and achieve their full potential in all areas this year. It is going to be a rewarding learning journey for all”.
We look forward to the new academic year here at SISQ, and to working closely with parents in their child’s development and learning journey at the school.
