Our MYP students were working hard on a research project on Esports and the gaming industry. They were linking the gaming industry to our unit of inquiry which is called How has Globalization changed the World? They have presented their findings by designing an information poster consisting of Esporting events around the world; types of games played and their main features; Esports stars and their incomes; and finally they have shown how this new multi-million dollar industry is a good example of how the development of electronics has made a massive contribution to globalization. Within the unit other aspects of globalization was looked at- such as inventions, both old (printing press) and new (smart-phones) and trans-national corporations. All this content was learned with constant reference to a key concept which was Change; and a global context which was Globalization and Sustainability.
The Swiss International School would like to introduce our community sports and football partners the Future International Football Academy ( FIFA). The company has been established in Qatar for five years and works with students aged from 4 to 18 years of age. All of the coaches are fully qualified and highly experienced in their field of expertise.
FIFA will use the school’s fantastic sports facilities to create a sporting hub and provide football sessions after 4 pm during the weekdays and throughout the day at weekends.
The FIFA coaches are becoming very well known faces to many of our parents and students due to the role they play in our own free school ECA programme. Our Early Years students are provided with an excellent opportunity to take part in movement to music, movement vocabulary and ball skill development, which they lead. The sessions take place from Sunday to Wednesday, 13:30 to 14:35.
