Grade 6 have been looking for solutions to help boost student’s vitamin D levels by designing a landscaped garden which will be accessible from the girls common room. The key concept of ‘communities’ is driving the unit while ‘form’ and ‘space’ are related concepts which will be addressed through plan diagrams. The designers are also expressing their ideas through 1-point perspective and 3-point perspective drawings, the conventions of which they are getting to grips with through a series of formative renderings of urban spaces.
Grade 7 and 8 students have just completed their unit which focussed on the the concept of ‘development’ through the process of the design cycle. They participated in several challenges, building their communication and social skills along the way. They debated the very need for a design cycle and produced an eco car which they ‘adapted’ and ‘evolved’ through technical innovations of their own making.
